Au Revoir

This will be my last editorial – my journey as owner, publisher and editor of French Provincial has come to an end. Although part of me is sad to be saying my farewells, I am also excited about the future of the magazine.

Firstly, I want to thank all of you for your support over the years. Many of you have been with me on this journey from the very beginning. We launched our first edition in Spring 2007. French Provincial was Australia’s first magazine about all things French. I had no idea if it would work, and no financial backup, but the magazine is still here today and is sure to have a wonderful future with new owner David Hulston. I have no doubt that French Provincial will expand with David at the helm. He has a fantastic vision for the magazine.

Two years ago, I was invited to speak at the Melbourne French Expo. One of the questions I was asked was how often did I visit France. To everyone’s horror, I had to humbly answer – I haven’t been yet! Well, I had a good excuse – I was putting all my energy and time into the publication (seriously). Great news, however – in April this year, my husband Jim and I visited France for three weeks. We now plan to travel often to this beautiful country. For Jim, there is an added bonus to travelling in France as he was born in New Caledonia and his first language is French.

How beautiful is France; but, of course, you already know that! The architecture is particularly magnificent – I was even impressed by the entrance doors of all the homes; each home and apartment has character. I took over 200 images but could only feature a few in the Readers section on page 6.

Once again, I would like to say thank you to you – the subscribers and readers. Thank you for your love for the magazine; thank you for your support. I will miss my phone and email conversations with you about your travels to France.

Au revoir to you, and to French Provincial magazine,

Jenny Jacob

A Word from the New Editor

I am thrilled to be involved with the production of French Provincial as the new Publisher and Editor of the magazine.

I have spent a great deal of the past 10 years restoring and living in a beautiful 350 year old farmhouse in Provence in the south of France and have developed a fascination experiencing  life amongst the locals in this most beautiful yet rustic part of the world.  French country life is truly a wonderful experience!

I look forward to carrying on the fantastic vision shown by Jenny Jacob, the founder of French Provincial Magazine. I have closely followed Jenny since the inception of French Provincial in 2007 and I wish her every success in the future.

Merci Jenny
