Concours des Vins du

The French-Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sydney is pleased to launch the inaugural Concours des Vins du NSW, a true celebration of the diversity and quality of NSW wines. This event is organised under the patronage of the French General Consulate.

This event, created 20 years ago in Melbourne, is now considered a flagship event in the Victorian wine competition calendar. It differs from other wine shows by promoting NSW wines through a French perspective. Today, more than 110 wineries participate and compete for the prestigious awards with over 900 guests attending the public tasting.

For its first edition in Sydney, the judging panel is composed of eminent French wine professionals from Australia and abroad. Franck Moreau MS, ‘Best Sommelier Asia-Pacific 2012’, will lead the panel alongside Gilles Lapalus, Hervé Lalau, Michael Engelmann MS, Pierre Durand, Céline Rousseau, Florent Bouvier and Christophe Rebut. They will appreciate and blindly test the wines with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals being awarded in 12 different categories.

The Awards Presentation and Wine Tasting Evening will take place on Thursday 13th June at the Wharf Restaurant @ Pier 2, Walsh Bay. Attracting a broad corporate guest base, as well as state government representatives, wine-industry professionals, media, and the general public, the Concours tasting event is expected to sell out this year with over 500 guests. It will be a great opportunity for the wine-loving

public to taste the wines from New South Wales, discuss and debate with the experts and enjoy some French cheese and charcuterie.
